Every time I hear our National Anthem I get goose bumps, but on July 4th when I hear it, I cry. I hide it well but if anyone looks at me they’ll know. That’ll happen this July 4th too yet as I prepare to celebrate this Independence Day I am more exasperated than ever at the state of our politics. The current political climate is a perfect storm of lies and animosity, really just blind hatred, fueled by any disagreement, even the most trivial. In its wake is a Congress that is entirely dysfunctional. They are unable to find any consensus on anything to actually legislate. Will this storm pass? Is there a way out of it?
